VIVO IPL-2021 || Match-13

Match Review || DC Vs MI

Relive - Finale of IPL2020 !! Remember the finalist ? Yes, it's the repeat of grand finale. Delhi Capitals taking on the defending Champions - Mumbai Indians. Capitals were ready to settle the account. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians had a super dominance over Capitals. In the last 05 head to head meetings, Mumbai Indians is all over the Capitals.

This match is not between the two teams, but two cities, two cultures & two emotions. It's a contest between commercial capital & national capital of country. On the ground reality, it's a clash of titans - Mumbai's batting up against Delhi's bowling. Mumbai indians, being the nemesis for Delhi Capitals & they somehow need to find the way to beat them & they did it. This time, Delhi Capitals break the jinx & created the first upset of IPL2021, by defeating Mumbai Indians by 06 wickets.

MUMBAI INDIANS

Rohit Sharma won an all important toss,on a super challenging two-faced batting strip. This was a pitch not suiting to the playing style of either of the team. It was all about application, execution & adapting to the conditions. MI made one change to the playing eleven . Team brought spinner "Jayant Yadav" for "Adam Milne".

Quinton De Kock(2) yet again failed to deliver. MI lost an early wicket & then along with Surya Kumar Yadav(SKY) skipper Rohit Sharma(44) played some sensible cricket, just before SKY(24) gifted his wicket to Avesh Khan. MI batsmen got the decent starts but none of them turned their innings into a big-one- a match winning innings. More importantly, middle order yet again drastically failed to deliver. Pandya brothers & Kieron Pollard just couldn't resist the temptation to play big shots & while attempting it, perished. Thanks to the well fought innings from Jayant Yadav(23) that has saved MI from misery of scoring their lowest score ever. But, MI kept loosing wickets at regular intervals & managed only 137 runs - definitely 20 runs short.

DELHI CAPITALS

At the halfway stage, it's the Delhi Capitals in the driving seat. Courtesy of a veteran - Amit Mishra's (04 Wkts) match winning spell. Still, 138 was not going to be a cakewalk for Capitals by any chance & they were up against the defending champions MI - a team that doesn't give up easily & they are the masters of defending low scores.

Delhi Capitals also,lost an early wicket of - Prithvi Shaw. The pitch was getting slower & slower as the match progressed. It was the sensible innings from Shikhar Dhawan(45), who hold one end & helped Capitals to get over the line. On the other end,wickets kept falling at regular interval but it was the match-winning innings of Dhawan, that stood apart & made all the difference. Finally, Delhi Capitals beat Mumbai Indians for the first time.

This is a wake-up call for defending champions. Especially, in the batting department. Top order is not performing to the potential & major concern is a middle order collapse. But, credit to MI bowling attack. They bowled beautifully & took the game in the final over. All & all, it was a Shikhar Dhawan & Amit Mishra show that captured all the limelight & they were the true match-winners of the game.
