Match Review || PBKS Vs DC
Another Northern Derby at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. Kings were looking to settle the account, but had a shocking loss before the game. Skipper Rahul is not available due to his "Acute Appendicitis" & therefore Mayank Agarwal will lead the way in this match,as a standing captain. It's a massive loss for the Kings.
Team without skipper is like a weapons without sharpness & Kings missed K.L.Rahul dearly in this match. Still, Mayank played a captain's innings,but it proved to be insufficient & Delhi Capitals, a team on song - won the match quite easily by 07 wickets.
PUNJAB KINGS - INNINGS
Rishabh Pant won the toss & choose to field first, which meant Kings had the responsibility to post a super-challenging score on board. All eyes were on their standing skipper of this match - Mayank Agarwal, Universe Boss - Chris Gayle & the new entrant to the team - David Malan. Kings finally, replaced Nicholas Puran with David Malan in this match.
Kings had problems right from the outset, as they lost their opener - Prabhsimran(12) early. But, the shocking moment or should we say the turning point of match was the wicket of Chris Gayle(13), that too inside power-play only. The game has tremendously moved towards Delhi Capitals. But, Mayank kept one end locked & kept scoring runs at brisk pace. But, on the other end all the drama was happening. Although, David Malan(26) stayed with Mayank for a while, but couldn't score runs at a brisk pace.While attempting to play big shots & push the run rate, Malan lost his wicket & could manage only run a ball strike rate.
Then it was mini-collapse once again for Punjab Kings, as they lost two back to back wickets, just at the wrong time. Mayank was running out of time & partners. Now, Mayank was scoring runs in boundaries &sixes, which lifted the run rate comprehensively. Till the end, he was a lone warrior stranded on 99*, with no support from other end. Kings were limited to 166 runs only, despite a brave & impressive innings from Mayank Agarwal(99*). Definitely, a player for future !!
DELHI CAPITALS - INNINGS
Delhi Capitals were always the favorites to win this contest. Bowlers did their job brilliantly well. Now, it was all upto the batting unit to finish the job. Well, delhi boys with the bat didn't disappointed & openers - Prithvi Shaw(39) & Shikhar Dhawan(69*) gave a blistering start to the team, scoring at 10 runs per over in power-play & importantly, haven't lost any wicket.
The game was slipping & slipping fast from Punjab Kings. Delhi Capitals played some smart,sensible & intelligent cricket. Punjab Kings were desperate for wickets, but delhi boys were scoring runs with ease & were not giving any opportunities for Kings to make any kind of comeback. Kings somehow managed to pick two more wickets of Delhi Capitals - Steve Smith(24) & skipper Rishabh Pant(14). But,that was just not enough & Delhi boys won this match,quite easily - it was a cakewalk for them.
Yet again, Delhi Capitals stamped their authority & supremacy in northern derby by beating Punjab Kings twice, consecutively in IPL2021. Mayank's innings was the mesmerizing one of the match. He played a captain's knock with the bat & won the hearts. He is definitely, a player to watch out for & soon we may see him, playing for the national team.
On the other end, Delhi Capitals is cruising to make it to playoffs & after this win they're almost there, unless any disaster happens to this team. Delhi boys are looking balanced, in form & bringing their best when it matters. It was a dominant performance from Capitals - Well played delhi boys !!
