Match Review || MI Vs CSK
A Roller-Coaster !! Cracker of IPL2021 !! Nail-Bitter !! Unbelievable - Astounding Finish & Heart Stopping stuff. We can call all this for this match & much more - completely finding myself short of words. This was an epic battle, legendary rivalry between the arch rivals - Mumbai Indians & Chennai Super Kings.
No rivalry is as big as this one. Mumbai Indians, the only one to rule over the yellow army & in the recent times, defending champions are super dominant over super kings. This match has all the drama, twists & turns, power strikes & unbelievable-iconic performances. Once again, in this nail-biter Mumbai Indians snatched the victory from jaws of Super Kings & won the match by 04 wickets,on the very last delivery of the match.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS - INNINGS
In this high-octane contest between the two champion teams, it's Rohit Sharma, skipper of Mumbai Indians won the toss & asked Super Kings to bat first. Yellow army didn't had the greatest of the starts, as yellow army lost Ruturaj Gaikwad(4) in the very first over of the match. Then it was a run-feast & there was no respite for MI bowlers. Faf Du Plessis & Moeen Ali were going all cylinders blazing & put up a century run partnership in just 10 overs. Super Kings were scoring at 10 runs per over.
Now, it was a time for some drama & Super Kings lost three wickets in quick succession & that too of Moeen Ali(58), Faf Du Plessis(50) & Suresh Raina(2). If felt like, MI made a strong comeback but there was another twist & a real big one. Ambati Rayudu(72* off 27 balls) took MI bowlers to the cleaners.
Rayudu was dealing in boundaries & sixes & even the world class bowlers like - Jasprit Bumrah & Trent Boult couldn't stop him. Rayudu scored at whooping strike rate of 280 & drive Super Kings to a winning score of 218. CSK made a strong statement in IPL2021. Wow - what a performance !!
MUMBAI INDIANS - INNINGS
Defending Champions were surely under immense pressure & such situations bring the best in this team. A million dollar question was- can this team pull off an unreal victory once again against their arch rivals - "Chennai Super Kings". It was a steep mountain to climb for Mumbai Indians & for sure, a herculean task.
MI commence their innings with a flourish. Quinton De Kock & skipper Rohit Sharma was swinging the bat in all directions & matching up with the asking run rate. Both of them them gave a good start to team. Just when, MI was picking momentum & were looking dangerous, yellow army got the first breakthrough in the form of skipper Rohit Sharma(35). Soon after, SuryaKumarYadav(2) & set Quinton De Kock(38) got out & super kings were right back into the game.
The ship was sinking for Mumbai Indians & now, it was all upto Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard. The asking rate was moving up & up and things were going out of control for Mumbai Indians. Krunal Pandya & Kieron Pollard were playing big shots and somehow managing the asking run rate. After playing a quick-fire innings, Krunal Pandya(32) perished to a beauty from Sam Curran.
This was the super intense time of the match. Last three overs & MI needed 48 runs to win. Generally, this equation shows - game over, but not for MI till Hardik & Pollard were there. Here comes the Pollard power & Hardik's super striking. Both the batsman were thinking, only in terms of hitting sixes. After hitting couple of humongous powerful strikes,Hardik Pandya(16) perished & Jimmy Neesham(0) followed him.
From here on, it was a Pollard show only & it was his day only. He smoked three lightning fast boundaries & couple of sixes in the closing stages & took the game to the last over, where MI need 15 runs to win. It was a heart stopping stuff for fans of both teams. MI still believed they can do it & "Lungi Ngidi" has the responsibility for Super Kings to deliver. Fortune favors the brave & this time Pollard had a lady luck on his end. A yorker went through the legs of Pollard & a priceless boundary for Mumbai Indians. Pressure was building on Ngidi & another boundary for Pollard on leg stump.
The equation went down to - 02 Balls & 08 Runs. This was crazy stuff & Pollard hit a flat six & then two runs on the final ball to clinch an unbelievable victory for Mumbai Indians. It was a Pollard's day - first with the ball where he took 02 precious wickets & now playing an unreal innings, scoring 87* off just 34 balls. This was an absolute astounding win for Mumbai Indians & yet again CSK couldn't get over the line, while playing against MI. Superlative Performances from both teams but -
Pollard Power Rocks !!
