Match Review - CSK Vs RR
This was a contest of survival, at least for Rajasthan Royals. Chennai Super Kings were up against the Royals. Men in yellow looked all set to lock horns with the pink army & Dhoni's men were looking more than ready to make a statement here. This season, CSK is looking good & who knows, this may very well be the repeat of 2018 - an year of redemption for them. Royals are finding themselves in a tricky situation & loss in this match means, they'll be heading to the rock bottom of the points table.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS - INNINGS
Sanju Samson - skipper of Rajasthan Royals won an all important toss at Wankhede & has no hesitation whatsoever in putting opposition to bat. Chennai has a stutter at the start, as they lost Ruturaj Gaikwad(10) very early. This kid, shown lot of promise last year but not having the best of start in IPL2021. Super Kings played in attacking mode & were going all guns blazing right from the outset till the last.
Blistering innings from Faf Du Plessis (33), Moeen Ali(26). Ambati Rayudu(27) & cameo's from Sam Curran(13) & Dwayne Bravo(20*) helped CSK to put a challenging score of 188 on board. It was a collective effort from team. All the batsmen got the decent starts but none of them was able to convert it into a real big one. Can CSK defend this score ? - a million dollar question.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS - INNINGS
Royals were heavily relying on skipper Sanju Samson & their marquee player - Joss Buttler & were expecting these two to fire in this match. Royals too had a dent in the beginning as they lost Manan Vohra(14) early. Now, the two stars were at the crease & runs were coming thick and fast. Both of them tonk the ball in stands quite regularly. Yet again, a soft dismissal for Sanju Samson(32) & same issues of inconsistency hurting this super-talented player. Then came the turning point of this match. Buttler hit one flat six & obviously the ball was changed - a ball which was quite wet,now replaced with a dry one. This has changed the coarse of game. The superman on field - Ravindra Jadeja sneak through the defense of Jos Buttler(49) & then the ball was doing all the talking.
CSK spinners, especially Moeen Ali (3/7) was unplayable & Royals kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Jadeja became a magnet on the ground, every catch was finding him on the boundary ropes - four catches to him, in this match. Eventually, Super Kings limited Rajasthan Royals to 143 only & won this contest by 45 runs. This is a big win for CSK,as this will make a huge impact on net run rate.
Men in yellow, must be a happy team & they got the good start to their campaign in IPL2021. The team looks good & if they could replicate such performances with consistency, then they might surprise everyone this season - first with the qualification for playoffs & then - who knows, even by lifting the title. "Whistle Podu" !!
