Match Review - PBKS Vs DC
In the match-11 of IPL2021, it's the "Northern Derby", where Punjab Kings were battling out with Delhi Capitals for the stamping their authority. It was a battle of supremacy & a contest between the super-strikers of two teams. Punjab Kings looks good,but not as powerful as Delhi Capitals. Punjab Kings yet again heavily relies on the top order, which includes skipper K.L.Rahul, Chris Gayle,Mayank Agarwal & Nicholas Puran.
PUNJAB KINGS INNINGS
Delhi won an all important toss & following the trend, opted to field first. It was crucial for Punjab Kings to post a challenging score on board. Thankfully, this time both the openers - K.L.Rahul & Mayank Agarwal looked in great touch. We witnessed the class of Mayank in this game. He was ruthless,unstoppable & with his super attacking mode he scored 69(36 balls) at a stunning strike of 191.66,before he lost his wicket to a debutant Meriwala. Skipper K.L.Rahul(61) also looked in great touch & scored his another half-century. But,was unable to switch the gears when it mattered the most.
Importantly, after his wicket the team's down-slide continued & poor run of Nicholas Puran(9) & Chris Gayle(11) continued. It was cameo's from Shahrukh Khan(15*) & Deepak Hooda(22*) that helped Punjab Kings to post a challenging score of 195 runs on board. Well on Wankhede, even the score of 225 is not safe. Therefore, this score is just challenging & Kings need to bowl really well, especially in the power-play to have any chance,to win this contest.
DELHI CAPITALS INNINGS
Delhi Capitals, the last year finalist made two changes & brought Steve Smith & a left arm seamer - L.Meriwala to the playing eleven.Well, this team is a power-house with the bat.Shikhar Dhawan & a pocket dynamite - Prithvi Shaw at the top,followed by Steve Smith, Marcus Stoinis & skipper himself - Rishabh Pant. Capitals had a dream start once again.Openers were scoring runs at speed of knots. Courtesy of quick-fire by Prithvi Shaw(32) & Shikhar Dhawan(92). Sublime form of Gabbar continues. A rare failure for skipper Rishabh Pant(15) & Steve Smith(09) also had a off-day at the office. Stoinis(27*) & Lalit Yadav(12*) finished the job for Capitals. Delhi Capitals won this contest comfortably by 06 wickets.
Punjab Kings -the bowlers looked helpless & had no plans to deal with DC batsmen. Shami also had a poor day, remains wicket-less & went for 53 runs. Same was the story for overseas bowler - Meredith. Kings bowling looked very ordinary & they have to address this issue quickly, if they wants to make a comeback in the toughest twenty. The northern derby outright winners were - Delhi Capitals & they stamped their authority in this match. The finalist of last year,making a statement in IPL2021.
