Match Review: RCB Vs KKR
In IPL2021, this was an epic match of it's one kind. On Chennai turf, the only unbeatable team Royal Challengers Bangalore was up against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Red army post a score of 204 on the same surface, other teams struggling to post 160. Chasing 205 on this turf was always going to be a herculean task for Knights, eventually lost it by 38 runs.
RCB INNINGS
Virat won an all important toss & on this dicy two-faced batting strip, it was a no brainer for skipper Virat Kohli to bat first. The exclusivity of this match was not in batting first but to post a score in excess of 200. But, red army had one of the most forgettable start to the innings. RCB lost wickets of Virat kohli(5) & debutant Rajat Patidar(1) in quick succession, staring at 9/2. Devdutt Padikkal(25) expressed himself & provide some steadiness before he perished - still score was 95/3.
Now, the two explosive batsmen - "Glenn Maxwell & A.B.Deviliers"were at the crease, but the team was in a little tricky situation. Maxwell took the opposition to the cleaners, while Deviliers was playing in a passive mode. Once the team gets to a decent position & Maxwell was out, then Deviliers switched the gears & man it was a carnage. Balls were flying in stands, every now & then. When ABD - Mr.360 is in such explosive mood, then nobody can do anything. It was a nightmare for bowlers & all of sudden, this two-paced batting strip looked like a batsman paradise & bowler's graveyard. Match winning innings of Maxwell-78(49) & Deviliers-76*(34) puts RCB in a commanding position & it was curtains for Knights.
KKR INNINGS
Knights already had a job at their hands as they were climbing a steep mountain. It was never going to be easy & chasing down 204 demanded some miraculous innings from someone like Andre Russell or any of the top order batsman. The pressure of score board can get to even the best. Kolkata Knight Riders were under immense pressure to score 10 runs per over, right from the outset. While keeping up with the run-rate, KKR kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Although, KKR batsmen got the starts & Andre Russell shown the glimpses of his class but couldn't lived upto the expectations for long. Eventually, Knights managed only 166 runs & found themselves 38 runs short.
This was an emphatic win of red army over the purple army. The unbeatable Royal Challengers Bangalore extends their winning streak & now they're the table toppers. The dream run of RCB continues & this may prove very crucial, later in the qualifying stages of the league. Red army - in red hot form. RCB - Played Bold !!!
