IPL2021- Story 27 ||M-18: RR Vs KKR - Match Review & Insights

VIVO IPL2021 || Match - 18

Match Review || RR Vs KKR

The match between the two teams languishing at the rock-bottom of the points table. Yes, it's the Royals taking on Knights in an penultimate game of cricket. Rajasthan Royals & Kolkata Knight Riders are the teams, struggling this year to find form & consistency. Both the teams were desperate for the win as they're running out of gas. It's the pink army, who played some smart & sensible cricket & won this crucial match by 06 wickets.

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS - INNINGS

Kolkata Knight Riders, are struggling badly in IPL2021 & their poor run with the bat continued here also. Royals won the toss & asked KKR to bat first. The top & middle order of Knights, just not clicking for them. Openers were not providing a kick start to the team & middle order is also struggling with form & runs. Now, this was a Wankhede batting strip - a flat deck which suited batsman all through. Still, Knights had a very slow & sluggish start. KKR not only was struggling with scoring runs but also kept loosing wickets. Here, credit must be given to RR bowlers. They kept bowling on the tight lines & forced the batsmen to make mistakes.

KKR made some tactical blunders & captaincy of Eoin Morgan is just out of the zone. When a team had a super sluggish start & Andre Russell is waiting in dugout- coming at no.7, what's the thought process behind ? By the time Russell came to bat, it was all over for Kolkata Knight Riders. It's not about which number Russell bats, but it's all about the match situation. KKR poorly failed in execution & were limited to mere 133 runs, on a belter of a pitch. Knights messed it up - badly. Advantage - Rajasthan Royals !!!

RAJASTHAN ROYALS - INNINGS

Royals made few changes for this match. Jaydev Unadkat came back & Yashasvi Jaiswal made his first appearance of IPL2021. Even Royals didn't had a good start,as they lost their ace player - Joss Buttler(5) very cheaply. But this time, skipper Sanju Samson(42*) & David Miller(22*) played sensibly, with application,patience & basic smartness to took RR over the line. It was a cakewalk for Royals with the bat, once they limited the opposition to such mediocre score.

Credit goes to the bowling department, especially to the most expensive purchase of IPL - Chris Morris, who picked 4/23 & was the "player of the match". This was the only second win of the season for Royals. Still, a steep mountain to climb & long way to go.

KKR is ruining the opportunities handed to them.All such games will cost them heavy. KKR need to win at least seven off nine games left in the league. Already, they're in a complete chaos & things are not looking bright either, unfortunately. It feels like, Knights are on hunt to find new ways of loosing the games. KKR - need to pull up their socks & the time is running out for them !!!
