Match Review || KKR Vs CSK
In this season's toughest twenty, this was a "Block-Buster". We've seen the sky-scrappers, smashing boundaries, humongous sixes, ball flying in stands & what not. This game had all the spicy entertainment & it was an another nail-biter. An absolute thriller !!
This was an epic battle where Kolkata Night Riders were up against the Chennai Super Kings. In this thriller, Super Kings post a mammoth score of 220 & Knights almost made the monumental comeback in the history of Incredible Premiere League (IPL). Super Kings had heart in their mouth ,n the closing stages of the match. This game was a classic T20 match !!!
SUPER KINGS - INNINGS
Knights, won the toss in this epic battle & had no hesitation in putting the opposition in. Super Kings were batting first on Wankhede, so it looked advantage KKR at this point. Super Kings had a dream start as both the openers - Ruturaj Gaikwad(64) & Faf Du Plessis(95*) were playing in attacking mode. There was no respite for the KKR bowlers. CSK openers had a century run opening stand of115 runs between them. Ruturaj Gaikwad returns to form & team's top and middle order looks really good.
The onslaught from yellow army continued till the innings get over. Courtesy of Faf Du Plessis, who thoroughly deserves a century but found himself stranded on 95*, five short of a defining century. CSK in a strong position at halfway stage - yellow army definitely holds the upper hand. CSK - 220/3
KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS - INNINGS
Knights needed a attacking and powerful start to match up with the target, set by Super Kings. But, KKR had all the troubles right from the beginning. Knights had a sluggish start & then pressure of chasing gets to the batting unit. Half the side was back in the pavilion, score -31/5. The only hope for Kolkata Knight Riders was - "Andre Russell" & man what a time to return to form. We saw - "Russell Mania", Thunder Strikes from this muscle man & whatever was touching Russell's bat was flying over for six. Perhaps, this was the day of "Russell", as he completed his half century off just 21 deliveries.
Just when it looked, Super Kings are under pressure& Russell is about to cut-loose, the shocking moment of this game arrived. While leaving a delivery of leg stump - "Andre Russell - Bold" !! Heartbreak - Complete Heartbreak for Russell, KKR & fans. For the first time, we saw dejected Russell sitting on stairs of Wankhede stairs. It seemed the game is over for Knights, but "NO" - something super-slashing was coming.
Now it was Dinesh Karthik & Pat Cummins taking control of the game. Both of them, took the CSK bowlers to the cleaners & especially "Pat Cummins" looked unstoppable. Again, just when the momentum was building & pendulum was about to swing KKR's way, Dinesh Karthik found himself plum in front & was OUT to a slower-one from Lungi Ngidi.
Now, it was all upto Pat Cummins & he didn't disappointed either. He was going all guns blazing & when he scored 31 runs in one over of Sam Curran, KKR was in the contention to create an upset & Super Kings had their heart in mouth. Eventually, Cummins has nobody on the other end to support him & while playing expensive shots,he perished. KKR bold out for 202 - just 18 runs short of a monumental victory. KKR won the hearts & CSK won the match by 18 runs.
This was a match, where anything could happen till the last moment. The stars of this match were not from CSK but from KKR - "Andre Russell(54), Dinesh Karthik(40) & Pat Cummins(66). If Karthik would have stayed a bit more, then we might had a very different result. But,as we know there is no place for " If & But " in game of cricket.Well played KKR !! What a match !!!
