MATCH REVIEW || MI Vs SRH
Mumbai Indians - The defending Champions were up against the orange army. It was skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss & has no hesitation in opting to bat first, understanding the pitch conditions at Chennai. Still, there was lots of drama in store for this match,
MUMBAI INNINGS
Mumbai Indians had a decent start & Quinton De Kock(40) looked in good form & team got to a good start. It was the very first time, MI didn't lost any wicket in the power-play & scored 50+ runs. But as we know, cricket is a game of uncertainties & this game was about to make us believe more & more of this. Just after the power-play, hitman "Rohit Sharma(32)" perished while attempting a big shot, after a decent start to his inning. This moment has opened the gates for the opposition & on this two-faced pitch, it was going to be super challenging to score runs for Mumbai Indians.
Next batsman- Surya Kumar Yadav (SKY). This batsman is on song from the last few months & looks a league apart. Here also, commenced his innings with a bang - a humongous six. But what followed after was nothing less than a sheer casualness & SKY gifted his wicket. The same impulsive act of play we saw from Ishan Kishan & Hardik Pandya, that puts team in a super-chaotic situation.
Thankfully, there was some sensibility left in Kieron Pollard(35*) & his match-winning innings helped Mumbai Indians to post a score of 150, somehow - just somehow. On any other surface, it's a very average score but on this turf it was a super-challenging score to chase.
SUNRISERS INNINGS
At half-way stage, no doubt Sunrisers were more satisfied team, but they knew about challenging situations of this batting strip. Jonny Bairstow & skipper David Warner were on all attack mode in the power-play & score 67 runs in just 07 overs. Sunrisers were cruising & it looked like Sunrisers will win the contest in 15 overs only - but !!! Yet again the drama unfolds. Orange army lost their first wicket at 67 & Mumbai Indians got their opportunity to make a come back. MI knew, they've opened the gate of their potential victory.
Mumbai bowlers were all over the Sunrisers in no time. All of sudden runs dried out, pressure was getting to the opposition & in the panic mode wickets start to tumble. It was a procession for Sunrisers, courtesy of Rahul Chahar(04 Wickets), Trent Boult (03 Wkts) & Jasprit Bumrah (01 Wicket). Sunrisers were bowled out to 137 !! Wow !! It implies that, within 60 runs entire team collapsed. This was a monumental collapse of Sunrisers & Mumbai Indians won the match by 13 runs.
This was an inspirational win & such games will do a world of good to this team. Defending such low scores & winning in the super challenging condition, makes this team a true champion. Well played Mumbai Indians, defending champions on coarse to defend their title. MI rocks !!
