Headline Story :- "Team India Won The Third Test By 10 Wickets. Done & Dusted !!"
The talk of the town - "Pink Ball Test" finished on the very second day of the test. On the second day 17 wickets fell & the reason is - Team India thrashed England" in this test. It was a contest of supremacy & sheer dominance of indian spinners. It resulted in an emphatic win over england by 10 wickets.
INDIAN SPINNERS - DOMINATED & DECIMATED THE VISITORS
The dominance of indian spinners were striking, resounding & lethal. In this match 30 wickets fell, team india took twenty & visitors ten. In those twenty wickets, nineteen wickets fall to spinners & one to the speedster playing his 100th test - "Ishant Sharma". But this tells the story how dominant, the indian spinners were, over visitors. Axar Patel & Ravi Chandran Ashwin was all over the english team in both the innings, that sums up the story.
THE UNSTOPPABLE & MYSTERY BOWLER - AXAR PATEL
This is second match of Axar's test career & already eleven wickets in a game. It seems, he started his test career with a purple patch. He was unstoppable & literally a complete mystery throughout the match, as far as english batsmen are concerned. In the second innings the visitors had some real tough time playing spinners & it looked like they are playing to save their wicket rather than to score runs. Axar, now the only bowler in the history of game to have five wicket haul in three consecutive innings from the debut. This local boy became hero on this iconic venue -"Narendra Modi Stadium". Well played "Bapu" !!
400 TEST WICKETS FOR ASHWIN
Kudos - To Ashwin !!This spin maestro, arguably the best finger spinner of the world in test cricket reached one more landmark -truly an unbelievable one. Jofra Archer became his 400th scalp & Ashwin is the second fastest to reach this magical figure of 400. In just 77 matches, Ashwin reach this landmark - second to legend "Muttaih Murlidharan". Ashwin is a match winner, a champion & an unstoppable force with the ball & has some serious ability with the bat, when it comes to test cricket. Take a Bow Man - Awesome, Unbelievable, Fantabulous !!
PINK BALL & PITCH BECAME TALK OF THE TOWN
After this emphatic win, where team india leads the series by 2-1 & now it's only one team that can win this series - "The Pitch & Pink Ball" became the highlight of discussions, opinions, expert comments & the blame game on pitch was the center of attraction. Even the english ex-cricketers, experts came alive on social media platforms & blaming with the statements - The pitch was not suited to test cricket, the pitch was not of international test standards & even the english skipper -
"Joe Root" passed some sarcastic statements.
BLAME GAME BY EX-CRICKETERS ON PITCH !!
The ex-english cricketers like Michael Vaughan, Alaister Cook & Kevin Peterson were cribbing about the pitch & no one was talking about lack of application from batsmen. Furthermore, Australian great & an ex-cricketer "Mark Waugh" also joined the discussion & complaining about pitch. Let's not to forget that both the teams were playing on the same batting strip. Just to remind that, Zak Crawley from England & Rohit Sharma from India were also batting on the same pitch.
Most importantly, when team india visit to Australia, England, Newzealand - they never crib about the WACA strip where green turfs with grass & ball is doing all the adventures - swinging all the ways, bouncing inconsistently & so much more. It seems that the visitors can't accept that they didn't played well enough on this pitch, they couldn't adapt to conditions & didn't applied themselves.
PITCH HAD NO DEMONS IN IT
Yes, it's there that the batting strip was really testing & challenging for batsmen. It was turning square, bouncing unevenly, dipping & doing a lot. But that's where the application, technique, adapting to situation comes into play & that's what the spice of test cricket is. Let's understand that it was equally testing plus challenging conditions for both the teams & the team who adapted well, make refinements in their approach, applied themselves better & played better cricket - they won. Period.
For sure, there were "No Demons In Pitch" & it was inability of batsmen to apply themselves in the situations & perform. This applies to both the teams & that's what indian skipper -"Virat Kohli" also said. When 21 out of 30 wickets fall to straight deliveries, it tells the story. One basic thought - "Batsmen were playing for turn & it didn't". Period.
TEAM INDIA- ONE STEP CLOSER TO "WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP" FINALE
After this emphatic win, now team india is at a striking distance from "World Test Championship Finale". A win in the last test of this series or even a draw for team india, will be enough for ticket to finale in WTC. Team India is on a winning streak & they will like to carry the momentum to enter WTC finale with a win. Well played team india, a champion team.
